The current tools are excellent at exploring directions. They are not as strong at understanding why a particular sightline matters, or how a wall is going to be built in steel and ply. Final design still belongs to humans who understand materials and trade-show physics.
The right mental model: AI is a concept-phase accelerator, not a replacement for the production pipeline.
How to fold it into your pipeline today
Start at the brief. Use generative tools to expand the space of options at the start of the project — before you commit any 3D modeling time. Generate fifteen to twenty distinct directions, sort them ruthlessly, and pick three to take into your normal CAD workflow.
That's the highest-leverage place to introduce AI. Everywhere else, the tooling isn't there yet.
